Nelson Mandela celebrates his 95th Birthday

The real hero and role model for lakhs of people, Mr. Nelson Mandela is making 'dramatic progress' as he celebrates his 95th birthday and may soon go home.

Escaping from near death, he is now bringing good news to his well wishers that he will be coming back home pretty soon. The anti-apartheid hero is alert and even watching TV from his hospital bed in Pretoria, his daughter revealed.
Zindzi Mandela said her father, who has been hospitalized with a severe lung infection since June 8, is making “dramatic progress” and confirmed reports that he may soon go home.
“I visited him (Tuesday) and he was watching television with headphones,” she said. “He gave us a huge smile and raised his hand. . . . He responds with his eyes and his hands.”
She said her father, who was on life-support just two weeks ago and feared unlikely to live to see his birthday, is gaining “energy and strength.” But she cautioned that his condition remains critical, but stable.

Cory Monteith dies with excess addiction

The super star of Gleer show, Cory Monteith, died from a heroin and alcohol overdose. The 31-year-old Canadian, who played Finn Hudson on the show, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday.

The coroner said there was no evidence to suggest his death was "anything other than a most tragic accident". Monteith, who had been in the musical comedy since its 2009 start, was treated for drug addiction in April.
The actor is thought to have been alone when he died as hotel video and electronic records showed he returned to his room by himself early on Saturday, after spending time with other people. The alarm was raised when he failed to check out at midday on 13 July. He had been staying at the hotel for a week.

Police said they believed Monteith had been dead for several hours before he was found. Monteith's girlfriend Lea Michele, who starred alongside him in Glee, issued a statement saying she was "deeply grateful for all the love and support she's received from family, friends, and fans".
The statement, given to People magazine, said she had been "grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them" and "they are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together". "We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family," it concluded.

Dennis Berkley is no more

Dennis Burkley has passed out on July 14, 2013 (aged 67). He died in sleep with a heart attack.
Born in Van Nuys, California, the son of Imogene and Henry Burkley, He grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and graduated from Texas Christian University. 

Though he had many film, television, and other professional acting credits, Burkley's most recognizable roles include Cal, the Texas born junkyard partner of Fred G. Sanford in the short-lived Sanford and Son sequel Sanford, as well as Dozer, a biker with a severe speech impediment who befriends Rocky Dennis and his mother in the movie Mask. 

Burkley provided the voice of several supporting characters on the animated television series King of the Hill (set in his native Texas).

Salman Butt apologizes to public for Spot fixing

Former Pakistan cricket captain Salman Butt has for the first time publicly admitted to and apologized for spot-fixing, two years after he was found guilty of the offence.

"I apologize to the nation and all the fans who have been hurt by the spot-fixing case," Butt told a press conference in the eastern city of Lahore in his first public apology for the offence.

Butt, along with fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer, was banned from the sport by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2011 after being found guilty of deliberately contriving no-balls in return for money during the Lord's Test against England the previous year.

The trio and their agent Mazhar Majeed were also jailed by an English court in 2011. The players were released last year.

Butt received a 10-year ban, with five years suspended, for his role in the scam. Asif was barred for seven years, with two suspended, while Aamer got five years.

 In April, Butt and Asif lost their appeals to the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport, and the ICC urged the players to accept their guilt and start rehabilitation. Aamer had not appealed after pleading guilty before the UK court in 2011.

"I admit the ICC tribunal decision and warn the future players to avoid the pitfalls of corruption because this is bad for the country and for the fans," Butt, 28, said.

He and Aamer have agreed to undergo rehabilitation through the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Butt's public apology is seen as a step towards shortening the remaining period of suspension.

Butt also appealed to the interim PCB chief Najam Sethi on Friday to reduce his ban and permit a return to domestic cricket, while indicating his ambition to play internationally in the future.

"I request the interim chairman to request the ICC to reduce my and Asif's bans. I have two years ban left so if the ICC allows me to play domestic cricket then I will be ready for international matches once my ban ends.

"I have enough cricket left in me and when my ban ends I am ready to play for the country again," said Butt.

Finally there is a lot of talk about Salman Khan and his love Lulia Vantur, a Romanian Actress. 

Although a lot of rumours were going on about their dating, they have never posed to the media and took all care to prevent any news and pics from leaking out. Reportedly, they've been dating for a while now. 

Lulia is in India and reports suggest that she is staying with Salman's parents in Mumbai. Salman flew in to Hyderabad for the shoot of Mental accompanied by Lulia on Thursday evening. 

Though the duo initially walked out of the airport together, on spotting waiting shutterbugs, they exited separately. While Salman posed, his friend Nadeem was seen shielding Lulia from the flashbulbs. And in a bid to divert media attention from her, Sallu decided to send her off to the hotel in the super luxury car booked for him.

Ranbir Kapoor was recently seen arriving at director Karan Johar's birthday party with Katrina Kaif. They both were seen sharing a bottle of beer in the car which might have led to media speculation.

Ranbir Kapoor has confessed that he has been in five "meaningful" relationships, and Katrina Kaif has never been one of them. "Everyone seems to think we're together, but it's not true," Ranbir Kapoor said.

He elaborates, "She gets along well with Ayan (Mukerji) as well so we hang out together. It gets tiresome sometimes to talk about what Katrina and I have, and what we don't."

Ranbir Kapoor also said that he has never been dumped and that he has always been the one to do the dirty job. His last girlfriend was Deepika Padukone around the time 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' released in 2008. He also recently acted with her in the super-hit 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.

The star admitted that he does not have a 'type'. Kapoor Jr. says, "I like someone who challenges me, someone who I can look up to, someone who can keep me in check. Love has to be extraordinary, otherwise there's no point in it. I just haven't found anyone who's made me feel that way.

But with 4-5 films lined up over the next two years, does Ranbir Kapoor have enough time for love? It looks like he still has a long way to go before he finds his better half.
